Perry Hall Wrestling

029028The wrestling team at Perry Hall High School in Baltimore County had a successful 2014-15 season. The Gators finished 21-2, improving on their 19-4 overall record from the previous season. Perry Hall also won the Baltimore County team title for the first time in 21 years, and won the Best of the Nest tournament, which they also host.

In postseason play, the Gators qualified for their region in the Dual Meet tournament, where they got knocked out in the first round. In the individual tournament, Perry Hall finished in third place in the 3A/4A North Region behind North Hagerstown and Urbana. Brent Newcomer placed the highest at the state tournament for the Gators, finishing third in the 120 lb. division.

Looking ahead, Perry Hall is returning a few key wrestlers, including Marquise Smith (106 lb division), Tyler Klein (126 lb), and Cameron Grindle (135 lb). They also have a few promising prospects who have not yet produced at the varsity level.

"As a coaching staff our philosophy is to positively change the lives of children through the sport of wrestling," said coach Sean Clark. "Our motto is 'We don't follow the president, We set the president!'"
