Registration Open for Crab Claw Classic, College Baseball Recruiting Event

Registration is open for the 16th annual Crab Claw Classic. Hosted by Diamond Recruiting, the event is set to happen from August 3-4, and is eligible to Maryland baseball players graduating in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Lou Holcomb is the President of Diamond Recruiting. He has years of experience in the world of college baseball recruiting, and currently is a professional scout. Holcomb is a member of the Major League Baseball Scouting Association.

The first day of the event is set to start at 9 AM at Joe Cannon Stadium, and conclude at 3 PM. It is the combine portion of the event, where players can showcase their skills in front of a plethora of scouts.

Skill competitions will also take place during the first day of the event. Players can compete in a variety of competitions, including fastest runner, top arm, and top power hitter, among others.

The second day is set to be an All-Star game for those prospects who are invited to participate in it. The first pitch scheduled for 4 PM at Johns Hopkins University. The game will pit the All-Maryland Team against the All-Mid Atlantic Team.

I am an alum of the Crab Claw Classic, and my experience was that it was entirely worth it. It helped me get on college programs radars, and happened to be the first time my future college baseball coach at St. Mary's College of Maryland saw me play. Though it has been close to 10 years since I participated in the Crab Claw Classic, the event has grown tremendously, and I strongly suggest it for those who are serious about playing baseball beyond high school.
