Young Rockville Field Hockey Ready to Win in 2015

Rockville High School's young field hockey team is looking to continue to continue to grow in 2015. 2014 was a learning year for the Rams- fielding a JV team fully comprised with freshmen meant that a lot of underclassmen players had to make the step up to the varsity level.

Although the team had a slow start last year, they got better as the year went on, and have built up a lot of new skills that should help them this upcoming season.

"Almost our whole team is back because there weren't many seniors last year," said head coach Ray Trail. "We have a strong defense that has been working together since their freshman year. We also have a lot of speed in the midfield to help us move the ball downfield."

Two players the Rams will be reliant on this season is sophomore Samara Williams and junior Laura Carey. Both are expected to help Rockville get the ball to their opponent's side of the field, and to keep it there too.

"Our main goal is to become a more offensive team by creating more scoring opportunities," said Trail. "We are trying to play with a more enthusiastic attitude in the hopes that it will reflect positively on our record."

Looking ahead, Trail is looking forward to seeing the Rams play Paint Branch and Blake, two teams this batch of players haven't played against before. Overall though, Trail is hoping that the 2015 Rams progress along from last year's team.

"People can expect to see a team that has learned and grown together these past years, and is now ready to win," said Trail.
