Howard Continues Track and Field Dominance at County Championships

The Howard High School boys and girls track and field teams won team titles at the Howard County Championships earlier this week. For the boys, it marked their second straight "Triple Crown" (cross country, indoor and outdoor track county titles). The girls won their sixth outdoor track county title in the past seven years.

Junior Amanda Eliker scored 28 individual points for the Lions (1st in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs, second in the 800 meter run), who topped second-place Mount Hebron, 155.50 - 127.50. The boys were fueled by wins in the pole vault (senior Griffin Shirodkar) and the shot put (junior Collin Greene).

The Mount Hebron girls set two meet records: the 4x200 meter relay (1:41.14, record was 1:43.00) and the 4x400 meter relay (3:54.70, record was 4:00.96).

Oakland Mills' Deon Breeland (300 meter hurdles, long jump), Hammond's Damon Brockenberry (100 and 400 meter dashes), Reservoir's Adaobi Tabugbo (100 and 300 meter hurdles), and Mount Hebron's Jaiden Ritter (100 and 200 meter dashes) and Satori Valentine (400 meter dash and 800 meter run) won multiple individual titles.
