Michael Green, a member of the Varsity Volleyball team at Calvert Hall College High School, is the U.S. Army Impact Player of the Month!

Green, who is in his junior year, was nominated by Danielle Hladky, the school's director of communications and marketing, and Michael Clark, an assistant coach for the varsity volleyball team at Calvert Hall.

Michael is a 4.0 student involved in National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and is also a two-year peer minister. Through Campus Ministry, he has participated in immersion trips to Camden, N.J., and Miami. During his freshman year, he was a member of the Ski Club was on the JV volleyball, and JV tennis teams. In his sophomore year, he was on the varsity volleyball team and was the manager for the JV lacrosse team.

This year, Michael is an important part of the varsity volleyball team.

"Michael is a silent leader who leads by example," head volleyball coach Ryan McDowell said. "He is well respected by his peers and is an impact leader."

Said Assistant Coach Clark: "An impact is exactly what Michael Green makes, not only on this campus but in the outside community as well. He is an absolute leader inside and outside the classroom, not only a great student but a great teammate as well, and in his three years at Calvert Hall he's made just that, impact."

Green is working his way back from a hip injury that he suffered early this season, but his leadership continues to benefit the team as a whole even with him sidelined for the time being.

When asked what the award to means to him, Green said "It means that when I'm a silent leader, people see it. I try to help my guys in and outside of the classroom, on the court, and pick them up whenever times are tough. I'm just glad to see that other people recognize what I try to do."

The Impact Player of the Month Award is given to an individual who has impacted their team in a positive way, both on and off the field.
