UCBAC Baseball All-Star Game

The Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference held an all-star game for baseball on May 26. The game featured players from every team in the league. The teams were separated into two teams for a North vs South contest. Th e North squad consisted of players from Rising Sun, North Harford, Patterson Mill, Perryville, Elkton, Edgewood and Havre de Grace. The South's team was made up of players from Fallston, Bel Air, C. Milton Wright, Aberdeen, Bo Manor, North East and Harford Tech.


The game was won by the North by a final score of 6-2, collecting 11 total hits as a team. The North jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Cole Benjamin (Rising Sun) singled home Sean Bowling (North Harford) to get it started for the North before Brennan Martz (Rising Sun) grounded into a fielder's choice to score Luke Johnson (North Harford).

The North padded their lead in the fourth with two more runs, making it 4-0. Johnson cracked a long triple to score Zach Van Dyke (Rising Sun) making it 3-0, before a sacrifice fly plated Johnson.

The North squad also scored in the sixth and the seventh inning. In the sixth, Billy Benson (Patterson Mill), who had doubled to lead off the inning, came in to score on a single hit by Casey Andrews (Perryville). In the seventh, a double smacked by Van Dyke brought around Joel McCall (Perryville) to plate the North's sixth and final run.

The South got on the board in the bottom of the fourth. Brendan Yetter (Bel Air) scored on a groundball in which there was an error. It was hit by Owen Smith (Aberdeen). The two would combine again in the seventh when Yetter would come in on a hit by Smith.
