Former Cavalier Tim Novotny Hired as South Carroll Athletic Director
Tim Novotny began his new role as the athletic director at South Carroll High School in July. South Carroll has been Novotny's home for decades: he graduated a Cavalier in 2000, and coached the school's soccer team for 11 years. The South Carroll boys reached the state semifinals in 2008 and 2011-13.
According to the Carroll County Times, Novotny had always planned on becoming an athletic director. He described accepting the position at his alma mater as "special".
Having grown up and spent years in the area, Novotny told the Times that he is excited to grow community interest in South Carroll athletics.
Novotny replaces previous athletic director Jim Horn, who held the position from 2009-2019. Over that period, South Carroll won six state titles, including four straight wrestling titles from 2014-17. The Times also wrote a piece on Horn's retirement earlier this summer.
