Richard Montgomery 54 - Rockville 26
Richard Montgomery (pictured above) beat rival Rockville High School 54-26 in a battle of two teams from Rockville. The Rockets are now 3-0.
Richard Montgomery were led by quarterback Spencer Silverstein's four touchdown passes. Silverstein threw for 298 yards, completing 17 of 22 passes. He also had a rushing touchdown on a QB sneak.
Silverstein spread the ball around to six different receivers, but he had two main targets- Daniel Alexander and Luis Orellana. Alexander finished with 68 yards receiving on five catches, three of which were touchdowns. Orellana also had five catches and led all receivers with 84 total yards. Demel Delgado also had a receiving touchdown. In total, Delgado had three catches for 63 yards while Toussaint Rodgers had one reception for 41 yards.
Ty Hebron led Richard Montgomery's ground attack with 84 yards on five attempts. He also scored a touchdown. Jhordan Greene rushed for 39 yards on 12 carries, and scored two touchdowns. Gabe Gomez finished with 40 yards rushing on 10 carries.
Richard Montgomery plays Wootton at home next Friday night.
Oakdale 48 - Cape Henlopen 12
Oakdale traveled to Delaware Friday night and picked up a win against Cape Henlopen, winning by a final score of 48-12. The Bears are now 3-0.
The individual standout performance of the night came from Ritchie Case. Case recorded 16 tackles, which ties Oakdale's record for most tackles in a single game. He had six solo tackles and 10 assists, as well as forcing two fumbles. Zach Turner also had an outstanding game for Oakdale's defense, making 10 tackles and forcing a fumble. He had three tackles for a loss, including a sack.
Brendan Carlson had eight tackles for Oakdale, while Willie Kent had both an interception and a fumble recovery. Ben Simonica forced a fumble and had six tackles, including two for a loss. Joey Lane had four tackles and a fumble recovery. Oakdale's defense did not allow a point in the second half.
Oakdale's offense was led by running back Malik Boyd, who had 114 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries. Quarterback Sean McGaughey completed four of eight passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns. Matt Beveridge made two catches for 42 yards and a touchdown while Corey Schlee had one catch which was a 49 yard touchdown. Schlee also threw a 52 yard touchdown to Simonica on his one passing attempt.
Oakdale hosts Frederick County rival Urbana next Friday night.
Owings Mills 26 - Pikesville 0
The Eagles improved to 2-1 on the season by shutting out Baltimore County rival Pikesville, 26-0.
Owings Mills was led by their quarterback/kick returner Mike Johnson. Johnson completed 12 of 18 passing attempts, throwing for 268 yards and two touchdowns. He also had a strong game running the ball, rushing for 72 yards and a touchdown. Johnson's main target was wide receiver Mike Scott, who had five catches for 155 yards. Scott also caught both of Johnson's touchdown passes, including one that was a 50 yard play.
Defensively, the Eagles were led by defensive tackle Taylor Kane. Pikesville had no answer for stopping Kane, who finished with 11 total tackles, including four for losses and two sacks. Mark Flemming also had a big play for the Owings Mills defense, when he recovered a fumble and ran it 70 yards for a touchdown.
Owings Mills has a bye next week. Their next game will be at Hereford on Oct. 2.
Whitman 54 - Einstein 41
Whitman won their first game of 2015 in a shootout against Einstein, winning 54-41. The duo of running back Gunnar Morton and quarterback Matthew Clayton combined to score all eight of Whitman's touchdowns.
Much of Vikings' offense went through Morton. Morton ran for 232 yards on 24 attempts. His longest run was for 74 yards. Morton scored five of Whitman's touchdowns, four of which were rushing. The other was a receiving touchdown. In the passing game, Morton made five catches, the most of any Whitman player, for 49 yards.
Clayton was 12 for 24 throwing the ball against Einstein. He threw for 180 yards and one touchdown. Clayton also had a big day rushing the ball, gaining 100 yards on the ground and scoring three touchdowns. His longest run of the game was for 54 yards.
Whitman will try to reach .500 for the first time in 2015 next week when they travel to Northwest.
Edgewood 49 - Joppatowne 0
Edgewood is 3-0 to start a football season for the first time in nine years. The Rams maintained their streak of not allowing a touchdown in 2015 last night, when they beat Joppatowne 49-0.
The Rams leader on defense last night was Darian Summerville, who recorded five tackles and forced a fumble. Summerville also scored on offense, via a 51 yard reception. Amari Jones and Donte Armwood also forced a fumble for Edgewood while Ryan Webb had a big interception. Daryl Cooper had a fumble recovery he returned for a touchdown.
Edgewood ran the ball for 257 yards as a team on 36 attempts. Four different players scored touchdowns on the ground. Derrick Delilly led the attack with 141 yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns. AJ Barmer scored one touchdown, and had 68 yards on four attempts. Amari Jones ran for 51 yards on three attempts and scored a touchdown. David Coates also scored a rushing touchdown.
Quarterback Myron Williams Jr. completed four of seven passes for 66 yards. Kicker Charlie Burkhardt also had a great night, converting five of six extra point attempts.
Edgewood will put their undefeated mark on the line next Friday night when they travel to Aberdeen.
