Catonsville Baseball
The future looks bright for Catonsville's baseball program. At the JV level, the Comets went undefeated and won the Baltimore County Division 1 title for the sixth straight season. At the varsity level, Catonsville finished 9-8. A young team that had four sophomore in their starting lineup, it is a mark Coach Rich Hambor is happy with. "We had a very successful year while playing one of the toughest schedules in the state with the youngest team I've ever fielded," he wrote in an email recently to CSZ.
At the varsity level, the Comets had extra inning victories over Dulaney and Perry Hall. Danny Bruno was the standout player on the team this season. The first-baseman made second team All-County. From a career perspective, Bruno finished with 69 hits and a .345 batting average. The Comets will be a team to watch heading into next season.
