Abel Ameyaw Named to TopDrawerSoccer.com All-American Watch List
Abel Ameyaw, who will be a senior at Frederick High School this year, has been named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com All-American Watch List. If selected, Ameyaw would have the opportunity to play for the East team in the East vs. West all-star game, which will take place at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, NC on December 5.
Ameyaw, a midfielder, had a superb junior year for the Cadets, finishing with 9 goals and 5 assists.
"Abel is a hard worker both on and off the field. He makes the others around him better both during training and matches," Frederick head coach JP Smith said. "Abel is one of the most competitive players I have coached and this makes him continue to improve each season."
Being named to the Watch List is another accolade Ameyaw can add to his impressive resume. He was a 1st team All-State selection last year, after being an honorable mention as a sophomore. Ameyaw is a 3-time All-Conference player and is a two year captain for Frederick.
After high school, Ameyaw plans to play soccer at the Division I level. He has been getting looks from Temple University, LaSalle and Liberty. Gannon University, a Division II school, has also expressed interest in having Ameyaw join their program.
"Abel is a quiet, yet competitive and aggressive player. He is a hard worker in the classroom, as well as on the field," said Smith. "Overall, Abel will excel in what he chooses because he does not like to be second best."
