MPSSAA 1A and 2A Indoor Track State Championship Results
1A Girls
Boonsboro from Washington County won the 1A girls state title by some distance, registering 160 points while second-place Smithsburg got 77. Snow Hill and Pikesville tied for third place with 46 points.
The Warriors had five first place finishes, two of which came in the relays. Boonsboro's team of Bethany Wallace, Ella Mannix, Ainsley Plumadore and Camryn Harper won the 4x200. Plumadore and Harper were later joined by Emily Kimball and Elle Bare in Boonsboro's 4x400 team which finished in first place.
Harper also won an individual state championship in the 500 meter run. In the pole vault Bethany Lohman finished in first, and Boonsboro also emerged victorious in the shot put via Rose Mary Minang.
The win gives Boonsboro back to back state championships for the second time in its program's history.
1A Boys
Boonsboro also won the boys competition, giving the Warriors a sweep for the entire state competition. The Warriors finished 127 points, while Pikesville got second with 70, and McDonough placed third with 61.
The Warriors won three competitions, one of which was the 1600 meter run. Donovan McClellan picked up first, but was joined in the top three by teammates Ben Hartings and Nicholas Kauffman, giving Boonsboro 24 points from one event.
Hartings won the state championship in the 3200 meter run, while Nick Kidwell finished first in the shot put. Jordan Churchey, also of Boonsboro, placed second in the shot put.

2A Girls
Hereford's girls track team won its second straight MPSSAA state title by compiling 89.50 points, besting second place Friendly which finished with 73. Lackey placed third with 66 points.
The Bulls won three competitions, one of which came 4x400 meter relay with the team of Kara Schmidt, Hannah O'Brien, Katie Blair and Tori White. Hereford's 4x800 meter relay team, comprised of Kylie Nause, Hannah Ace, Hannah Weeren and Jen Barranco, also finished in first place.
Alexandra Butz won the state championship for pole vault, and also finished second in the high jump.
2A Boys
A very consistent performance saw Century win its third ever indoor track title, and first since 2013. The Knights claimed the top spot in the 2A competition by accruing 69.50 points, edging out last year's champions, Westlake, which finished with 65. Largo's 53 points earned them third place.
Century only finished first in one competition- pole vault, which was won by Kyle Bryan- but still managed to finish first with a string of placements in numerous competitions.
The Knights saw 10 performances of theirs finish in the top five of different competitions. The 3200 meter run was particularly fruitful for Century, where Theo Johnson and Zack Fenton finished second and third respectively. The 1600 meter run - where Jacob Spera finished fourth and Johnson got fifth - was also big for Century, as was the high jump where Ben Kennedy placed fourth, and Jalen Stanton finished fifth.
