Maddy Foltz Makes North Hagerstown History

Maddy Foltz, a sophomore kicker for North Hagerstown High School in Washington County, made history this past weekend. Foltz became the first female to play and score in a varsity football game when she converted all three of her extra point attempts in the Hubs' 33-21 loss to Tuscarora.

Foltz is also the first female to ever play for a North Hagerstown football team and score, which she did last year when she competed for the school's JV team. She was the JV's third leading scorer in 2014 as the team's place kicker. Foltz set school records at the JV level for most PAT's made in a single season, as well as in a single game.

Foltz's primary sport in the Fall is soccer. She is the starting goalkeeper for North Hagerstown's varsity girls soccer team. With both sports taking place currently, it means that Foltz usually practices two times a week with football, leaving soccer practice early to practice with the special teams. Foltz also plays basketball and lacrosse.

Foltz began her kicking career in the 7th grade for the North Hagerstown Junior Hubs youth football program. Her kicking range is about 30-33 yards, with the longest kick she has ever made being 36 yards.
