Five Football Games to Watch: Week 3
Annapolis at Broadneck
A battle of Anne Arundel County unbeatens is scheduled to take place this weekend at Broadneck when Annapolis visits the Bruins.
Broadneck had an excellent 2015 season, finishing 8-2 in the regular season. The Bruins had a big postseason too, topping North Point and Old Mill to claim the highly competitive 4A East crown before falling to Howard in the state semifinals. Broadneck has picked up where it left off by starting 2016 with back to back wins over South River (36-12) and Northeast (50-0).
Annapolis also made the playoffs in 2015, the first time since 2009. After losing to Broadneck in Week 3 last year, the Panthers reeled off six straight wins which included three shutouts. In the playoffs, Annapolis lost in the first round to Old Mill. This season, Annapolis is 2-0 with blowout wins over Meade (52-7) and Southern (69-16).

South Carroll at South Hagerstown
South Carroll travels to Washington County this weekend to face the undefeated South Hagerstown Rebels.
South Hagerstown has enjoyed a dream start to 2016. The Rebels opened the year by beating Mervo from Baltimore City 18-12, avenging an opening week loss in 2015. In Week 2, South Hagerstown fell behind Frederick County's Urbana 10-0 before scoring 30 straight points to claim its second win.
South Carroll is 1-1 this season, opening with a blowout win over North Hagerstown before losing a close one to North Harford last weekend, 22-14. The Cavaliers are looking to make the playoffs for the eighth straight season, and a win against South Hagerstown would be quite useful for South Carroll when considering the MPSSAA's point system.
These teams squared off last year and South Carroll won, 21-20.

Kent Island at North Caroline
Two of the Eastern Shore's top teams tangle in Caroline County this weekend when North Caroline hosts Kent Island.
North Caroline ran the table during the regular season in 2015, finishing 10-0. That included a 28-21 victory at Kent Island in Week 3. A rematch between the two teams in the 2A East regional final was denied when Elkton shut out Kent Island 16-0. North Caroline would go on to win the 2A East title before losing to Walkersville in the state semifinals. The team is 2-0 this season, including a close shootout against Easton which finished 49-48. Last weekend, North Caroline topped Cambridge-South Dorchester 35-21.
Kent Island's loss to North Caroline was its lone one of the regular season in 2015. The Buccaneers were a force in every other game, enjoying a streak of three straight shutouts at one point. Kent Island also topped its county rival, Queen Anne's, 21-13 to close out the regular season. This year, Kent Island is 2-0, including a 27-0 win against Elkton in Week 2 and a 40-14 decision against Colonel Richardson.

Chesapeake (Baltimore County) at Randallstown
Randallstown hosts Chesapeake this weekend in a contest featuring two undefeated Baltimore County programs that appear to be in the midst of bounce back seasons.
Randallstown finished 3-7 last season, in a season that began quite brightly at 3-0. After the Rams topped Chesapeake 34-0 in Week 3 though, their season went into a tailspin, dropping the rest of their games, only two of which were by a touchdown or less. Randallstown is hoping to avoid that this season and like 2015, have gotten off to a great start. The Rams are yet to allow point, beating Pikesville 42-0 and Sparrows Point 36-0.
Unlike Randallstown, Chesapeake had a tough start to 2015, losing its first six games. The Bayhawks rebounded in the second half of the season though, beating Pikesville and Northwestern (Baltimore City) to finish the year 2-8. The team has taken that encouragement from the end of 2015 and carried it over to 2016, winning both of its games thus far. Chesapeake opened with a 14-8 win against Loch Raven before winning a defensive battle with Owings Mills 6-2 in Week 2.

Frederick Douglass (Baltimore City) at Digital Harbor
Digital Harbor puts its undefeated mark on the line when it hosts fellow unbeaten Frederick Douglass (Baltimore City) this weekend.
While plenty of traditional top teams in Baltimore City like Dunbar, Patterson and Edmondson-Westside have struggled this season with 0-2 starts, Frederick Douglass has started the season impressively. The Ducks have shut out its first two opponents this season, beating Woodlawn 28-0 and Carver Vo-Tech 35-0. Frederick Douglass will be hoping to get back to the playoffs as it did in 2014 after missing out on the postseason in 2015.
Digital Harbor appears to be one of the surprise teams in Baltimore City this year. Its two wins, a 12-10 decision over Towson and a 14-0 win against Edmondson-Westside, already equal its win total from 2015. The Rams are hoping to reverse the result from when these two teams met last year, which ended in a 6-0 Frederick Douglass victory.
