The 2019 spring track and field championships took place from Thursday, May 23, to Saturday, May 29, at Morgan State University. Here are the team winners from last weekend's action:

The Northwest boys won their fourth straight state championship and fifth all-time (all since 2013). The Oakdale boys also defended their 2018 title; they have finished among the top two in their classification in each of the past four years. The Huntingtown boys, Hereford girls and Northern-Calvert girls all captured their program's first ever spring track and field state title.
Some of the top athletes of the meet included:
Clarence Foote-Talley, Northwest senior: Foote-Talley helped rack up 38 points for the Jaguars and graduates having helped Northwest win the team title in each of his four years. Foote-Talley broke his own state meet record in the triple jump, jumping a personal-best (and current top mark in the country) 51 feet, 10.5 inches. He also won the long jump (23 feet, 2 inches), was second in the high jump (6 feet, 6 inches) and ran a leg on the victorious 4x100 meter relay.
Oakley Olson, Northern-Calvert sophomore: Olson helped the Northern girls dominate the distance events. On Friday evening, she ran a leg on the victorious 4x800 meter relay and then won the 3200 meter run (11:28.38). On Saturday, she won the 1600 meter run (5:06.52) and then finished fourth in the 800 metr run (2:21.03).
Jalen Stanton, Century senior: The Century senior (and lacrosse player) kept the Knights in the team title hunt, dominating in a range of events. He won the high jump (6 feet, 4 inches), then both of the 100 meter dash (10.81) and 110 meter hurdles (14.14, a 2A state meet record) within a 30-minute span on Saturday. He finished up his track and field career by anchoring the Century 4x100 meter relay to a third-place finish.
Mya King, Sparrows Point: King rebounded from a tough 2018 state meet - during which she fell in the finals of the 100 meter hurdles and had to scratch out of the 300 meter hurdles - to win both events last weekend. Her 14.28 time in the prelims of the 100 meter hurdles set a new 1A state meet record, as did her 43.13 time in the 300 meter hurdles later in the afternoon. King also finished third in the triple jump (35 feet, 10.75 inches).
