All-County Selections/Postseason Accolades for Baltimore County Baseball and Softball
Baltimore County Public Schools recently came out with their All-County selections for both baseball and softball! Both groups were selected by the coaches of BCPS.
Softball
Eastern Tech had the most selections to the first team with a whopping five selections. The Baltimore County champions swept the selections for infield with Allison Meyers (senior, 1B), Brooke Retkowski (senior, 2B), Sara Ciekot (senior, 3B) and Casey Turner (soph., SS) occupying all four positions. The infielders were joined by freshman outfielder Abigail Heagy.
The Mavericks also had two second team selections in Sarah Heagy, (senior, catcher) and Sarah Cox (soph., utility), as well as an honorable mention (Emma Lamartina, senior, OF).
No other team had more than one selection to the first team. Junior pitcher Jamie Finnical from Franklin was selected as the top pitcher in Baltimore County, while Lansdowne senior Hannah Goodman was picked for catcher. Joining Abigail Heagy in the first team outfield is a pair of seniors: Perry Hall's Hannah Lewis and Loch Raven's Megan Harper. Erin Collins, a junior from Hereford, rounded out the first team by occupying the utility spot.
The sportsmanship trophy was awarded to Catonsville.

Baseball
The coaches of Baltimore County named Shawn Dignazio, shortstop from Kenwood, Player of the Year for Baltimore County. Dignazio was joined in getting honored by his two coaches David Harris and Jay Diggs, who were selected as the Coaches of the Year after leading Kenwood to the Division B title. Rounding out the Bluebirds' contingent was Creed Mourey, who was one of three pitchers selected to the All-County team.
Garrett Day, who was the top arm for the A Division champions Dulaney, was tipped as the Pitcher of the Year. He was joined by Lions teammate Tyler Pillas on the All-County team, who got selected as an outfielder.
Chuck Harmon from Dundalk was named the Offensive Player of the Year. The outfielder was the lone Dundalk selection on the All-County team.
Catonsville had the most selections to the All-County team with three: second baseman Jake Getzendanner, shortstop Matt Moulthrop and outfielder Nick Grace. Sparrows Point joined Kenwood and Dulaney in having two players picked- catcher Drew Gorsuch and shortstop/outfielder Michael Duarte.
Catonsville received the sportsmanship award for the A Division, while Owings Mills won it for the B Division and Milford Mill won it for the C Division.
