Southern Wins Second Consecutive 2A Baseball Title
Southern of Anne Arundel County repeated as 2A Baseball Champs, defeating Eastern Tech 6-1. The Bulldogs were led on the mound by ace Truman Thomas. Thomas struck out 10 Maverick hitters in six innings of work, walking three and allowing two hits. The one run he allowed was unearned from a pair of Southern errors.
At the end of the fourth inning, the two teams had one hit each. The Bulldogs then went on to score five runs in the top of the fifth inning to break the game wide open. D.J. Coleman had the big hit in the inning when he cracked a 2-RBI single to put the Bulldogs on the board. J.C. Dilts also had a big day at the plate for Southern, going 2 for 3 with two runs scored.
