Melvin Kiah Named First Recipient U.S. Army/County Sports Zone Impact Player of the Month
Melvin Kiah, who plays center on the Dunbar High School varsity football team in Baltimore City, has been named the U.S. Army/County Sports Zone Impact Player of the Month for September!
Kiah, who is a junior, is the first person to receive the award. He has been described as a quiet, but natural, leader for the Poets, a key cog who is always able to find the positive in a situation, no matter how bad it may be.
His positive attitude is not limited to the football field. Kiah volunteers by mentoring youth football players with the MTS Terps and Charm City Buccaneers organizations. In addition to coaching the kids, he helps run the organizations' concession stands during games. When Dunbar's coaches needed players to help with their spring training camps, they knew they could rely on Kiah to be there.
Looking ahead, Kiah plans to play football at the collegiate level. When he does graduate, there is no doubt that he will be leaving behind a legacy throughout Dunbar for being a good student who always made smart choices, and encouraged others to do the same.
County Sports Zone would like to thank the U.S. Army for sponsoring the Impact Player of the Month award, as well as the WICKipedia.
Congratulations to Melvin!
