MPSSAA 1A and 2A Indoor Track State Championship Results
1A Girls
Boonsboro won the 1A girls state championship by recording 127.50 points. Smithsburg finished second with 87.50 points, while Surrattsville rounded out the top three with 56 points.
Boonsboro was led to the 1A girls state championship by runner Haley Wright, who won three individual state championships (800, 1600, 3200). Wright also anchored the Warriors' state championship winning 4x800 relay team, where she was joined by Molly Jones, Emily Anderson and Makenna Luzier.
The Warriors also got a win in the 500 run by Camryn Harper, and won the pole vault competition courtesy of Bethany Lohman.
1A Boys
Fairmont Heights claimed the 1A boys title, winning a close one with Smithsburg and Boonsboro. Fairmont Heights finished with 89 points, while Smithsburg came in second with 78, and Boonsboro ended with 75.50.
The Hornets won two competitions. Michale Reyes claimed the 55 hurdles, while the team of Abdulazeez Idowu, Ayyub Liggans, Tyreke Thompson and Anthony Glasgow won the 4x400 relay.
Rayes also finished second in both the 300 and 500 dash, while Glasgow picked up a trio of second place finishes in the 800, 1600 and 3200. Fairmont Heights also placed second in two relays- the 4x200 and the 4x800.
2A Girls
Hereford won the 2A girls championship in a close one with Lackey. The Bulls just finished ahead of Lackey, finishing with 59 points to Lackey's 56. South Carroll finished third with 36 points.
Hereford won the championship despite not winning a single competition at the meet. The Bulls did finish second in a few competitions- the 4x800 relay (Kylie Nause, Tori White, Hannah Ace, Alicia Kozlowski) and the pole vault (Alexandra Butz).
Butz also picked up a third place finish in the high jump. Sarah Coffey had a pair of fourth place finishes in the 1600 run and the 3200 run.
2A Boys
Westlake comfortably topped the standings for the boys 2A competition, finishing with 78 points. Century placed second with 54 points, while Largo rounded out the top three with 41.
Westlake placed first in five different competitions, which accounted for 50 of its total points. The Wolverines won the 300 dash (Will Moten), the 3200 run (Jay Hall) and the 55 hurdles (Jalen Elliott) while the team of Thomas Alcorn, Tobia Hurley, Moten and Elliott won both the 4x200 relay and 4x400 relay.
