Aidan Alston Named U.S. Army/County Sports Zone Impact Player of the Month

Aidan Alston, a volleyball, heptathalon and pole vault athlete at National Academy Foundation High School in Baltimore City, has been named the U.S. Army/County Sports Zone Impact Player of the Month!

Alston, who is a senior and fourth recipient of the award, was nominated by NAF's indoor and outdoor track coach Delana Penn.

"Aidan continues to build her character as a person and to excel academically and athletically," Penn said of Alston. "I realize that her volleyball and track accomplishments may not exceed each other. However, I believe her dedication and commitment, along with the guidance and leadership of her administration, teachers and coaches will allow her to continue to be the best scholar athlete she can be."

Alston has set numerous Baltimore City track records during her time at NAF. She is the first female to pole vault, clear a height and medal at the Baltimore City Championships. Alston is also the first Baltimore City female to medal at the MPSSAA indoor track state championships.

She is currently ranked number one in the state of Maryland for javelin and has competed at multiple national championship meets for the sport.

On the volleyball court, Alston has been a standout for NAF. She was selected to play in the Baltimore City All-Star game as a senior.

Alston is a member of the National Honor Society and has already been accepted to over 15 colleges and universities for next fall. She is also a Wendy's High School Heisman finalist for Baltimore City.
