Gaithersbug Wins 4A Baseball Title

062 059 063Gaithersburg defeated Severna Park 5-3 to win the MPSSAA 4A Baseball State Championship. It is the first baseball state championship in the program's history.

Anthony Felitti overcame a rocky first couple innings to lead the Trojans on the mound. Felitti gave up six hits and allowed three walks in the first three innings, but only gave up one run during that span. He was dominant from the fourth to the sixth inning, giving the Trojans' offense a chance to create some distance from Severna Park.


Grant Mixell had the big game at the plate for Gaithersburg. Mixell had three hits, including a double, as well as three RBIs. The Trojans also played flawless defense, highlighted by Aaron Vargas throwing a runner out at the plate from right field to end the second inning.

Spencer Dietrich pitched the whole game for Severna Park. He picked up seven strikeouts in defeat.
