Both Patterson Mill and Watkins Mill Field Hockey Record Shutouts; High Point JV Girls Soccer Wins Big
Varsity Field Hockey: Patterson Mill 9 - Aberdeen 0
The Patterson Mill field hockey team turned in a dominant display in their game yesterday against Aberdeen, winning 9-0. It was a team effort for the Harford County School, which had seven different players get on the score sheet. Mia Godbey and Sydney Beck each had two goals for the Huskies, while Taylor Wilhelm, Lindsey King, Lindsey Bayes, Deanna Young and Julianne Gabor each had one.
Wilhelm did an excellent job of distributing to her teammates, leading the team with three assists. Godbey, Gabor and Beck all had one assist as well.
Varsity Field Hockey: Watkins Mill 5 - Seneca Valley 0
Watkins Mill picked up their first win of the 2015, winning on the road against Seneca Valley 5-0 in Montgomery County action. The Wolverines drew their season opener 1-1 this past Friday in a weather shortened contest with Blair.
Senior Emma Riley scored twice to lead the Wolverines in scoring. Fellow senior Madeline Rodriguez-White, junior Rachael Thompson and sophomore Katherine Campbell all had one goal. Goalkeeper Uri Abalone was strong in the net for Watkins Mill, making five saves to preserve the shutout.
Watkins Mill's next game is Saturday afternoon against Kennedy.
JV Girls Soccer: High Point 11 - Charles Herbert Flowers 1
The High Point JV girls soccer team won their 2015 opener in impressive fashion, topping a very athletic and physical team from Charles Herbert Flowers, 11-1. Jennifer Rosales and Yaa Awusi-Sarkodie both netted hat-tricks for the Eagles. The Eagles also got two goals from Violeta Brito, who has only just started playing soccer recently. The big lead allowed head coach Bonnie Hyde to rotate her players through different positions so that they could see where they prefer playing on the field.
