The Damascus wrestling team (pictured above) won their very own holiday tournament, finishing with a team score of 253. Cocalico from Pennsylvania finished second with a 179.50, while Virginia's Lake Braddock placed third with 129.50 points. The tournament had a total of 16 schools participate.
The Hornets were led by Ryan Lawrence (138) and Collin McLaughlin (170) who each won their weight classes. Behind those two, Damascus placed an astonishing seven wrestlers at second place: Ethan Rendelman (106), TJ Macklin (113), Scott Obendorfer (132), John Allan Ferguson (145), Ben Lokos (182), Elijah Baisden (195), and Mikey Bradshaw (220).
Behind Damascus, Broadneck and Williamsport received the highest point totals of schools in CSZ's jurisdictions. The two schools finished fifth and sixth respectively. Broadneck was paced by Justin Baluyot (126) who finished second. Josh Lynch (145) got third for Broadneck. Williamsport was led by four competitors who placed third- Bryce Palamar (106), Justin Beckley (126), Tanner Canfield (152) and Jerry Moschel (160).
Along with Lawrence and McLaughlin, the only other wrestler to win their division from a CSZ school was Kyle Wilkins (285) from Poolesville. Wilkins was named the outstanding wrestler for the upper weights for the entire tournament, while Lake Braddock's Darius Wiles won the same honor for the lower weights.
