Poolesville Football
The Poolesville High football team is looking to continue its string of successful seasons, despite having the added challenge of moving up a classification.
The Falcons have finished three straight seasons with a 7-3 record at the 2A level and have sent multiple players to college programs, including five last year. Next season, Poolesville will be a 3A team. It will also be the first year they will have Dave Murray as their head coach.
"We are entering the very competitive 3A West region and playing all Montgomery County teams," Murray said. "We are looking forward to competing with some of the best teams in the state and also playing some local teams that we have never played before. We have a very exciting schedule."
Murray is not only excited about the talent his team will have on the field this year, but the coaching staff he'll have at his disposal as well.
"I've added a few new coaches to the staff including Cody Martin, Albert Surman and Mike Shull," Murray said. "They all come from tons of experience at various levels and schools, but most importantly, we all have the same goal."
On the field, the Falcons are returning multiple contributors, highlighted by Kyle Wilkins (OL/DL), Alex Dahlen (WR, DB), Trey Willis (RB/LB), Louis Potts (WR/DB) and Trevor Magaha (OL/DL).
"We are a very young team, but our offensive and defensive lines will lead this team in terms of experience," Murray said. "As a program, we want to continue our development as a tough, disciplined, hard-working football team with some of the best student-athletes in the area."
