Dundalk Boys Basketball Holiday Tournament Round-Up
Dundalk High School's well-attended two day holiday basketball tournament came to a conclusion yesterday. The tournament had 16 participating teams that represented four separate school districts- Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Harford County and Prince George's County.
Multiple teams with recent successes in the MPSSAA state tournaments attended including Baltimore City College (2014 state champion), DuVal (2015 state semi-finalist) Lake Clifton (2012 state champion, 2016 state finalist), Patterson (2012 state champion, 2015 state finalist) and Perry Hall (2016 state finalist).
The 16 teams were divided into four groups of four. A single elimination format, each group had a separate champion.
White Division
In what was the most closely contested bracket, Towson emerged as the champion of the White bracket.
The Generals first dispatched North Harford 46-45, overcoming a 24-21 halftime deficit in doing so. In the championship against Reginald Lewis, Towson kept a consistent lead throughout the game to win 57-51.
Joseph Weir was the star of the tournament for Towson, scoring 44 points over the two games, including 27 in the championship.

Grey Division
Edgewood won both of its games by double digits to win the Grey Division title, beating two Baltimore County teams along the way.
In their first game, the Rams topped Chesapeake-BC 50-35, using a first half blitz to jump out to a 28-19 lead. It was a team effort as Jahlil Scott led the way in scoring with 11 points, while Ryan Burgess and Rayshod Hooper each had 10.
In the championship, Edgewood was paired with Kenwood. The Rams trailed 20-13 at the half after a frustrating second quarter in which the team could only manage one point. Edgewood was able to change the game in the second half though, particularly in the fourth quarter when the Rams outscored Kenwood 21-4 to win, pulling away to win 51-38.
Burgess led the way for Edgewood in the championship by scoring 22 points. Hooper joined him as the other Ram to score in double figures, registering 12 points.

Gold Division
Lake Clifton breezed past Owings Mills 70-44 in its opening round game before topping Catonsville 52-41 to win the Gold Division.
In the championship game, Lake Clifton was able to build an early lead and make it stick, holding a 32-19 advantage at halftime. The Lakers got a sensational effort from Rasheed Brown in the game against Catonsville, finishing with 20 points. Andre Rafus added 17 points, while five other Lakers got on the score sheet as well.

Green Division
In a brutal bracket featuring Perry Hall, DuVal and Dundalk, Patterson was able to claim the Green Division championship.
In the marquee opening round game of the entire tournament, Patterson was able to get past Perry Hall 58-47. The Clippers were led in scoring by Marvin Price with 14, while Gerard Mungo had 12. Christion Adams had 11 and Isaiah Clemons finished with 10.
In the championship against DuVal, it was all about the Clippers' defense. Patterson won the contest 35-20, jumping out to a 19-14 halftime lead. The Clippers really clamped down in the second half, limiting DuVal to just two field goals in the third quarter, and two field goals in the entire half.
Mungo led the team in scoring with 13 points while Byron Easter and Daesean Jones each had seven points.
