Putty Hill Baseball Hosting College Showcase on October 1
Admittedly, this post is more personal for me than what I usually write on here. The Putty Hill Panthers organization, the select baseball program I played for every summer throughout high school, is hosting a one-day college showcase camp at Calvert Hall on October 1. The event has been organized by my old coach, and current president of the Putty Hill Panthers organization, Pete Karsos.
Any player who is serious about wanting to play college baseball should attend this event. It costs $175 to register, which is a far cheaper rate than the average college showcase camp. Players are to arrive at 12:30 PM that day, with the showcase itself running from 1-7. In addition to running through drills to show off their skills, players will also get to play in a game featuring live pitching and umpires.
This is an event that has been occurring for a couple years and has been very successful. Last season, of the 14 seniors that attended the event, nine went on to get offers to play collegiate baseball.
The list of colleges already saying they are going to attend includes Catholic University, George Washington, UMBC, Rider, Frostburg State, Stevenson, Shenandoah and my alma mater, St. Mary's College of Maryland. More are expected to be there as well.
The showcase is an excellent deal- having the opportunity to showcase your skills in front of as many college coaches for that low of a price is pretty rare.
